The Meaning Of Adilfitri To Me :)

Nur Soleha Bt Abdul Karim

PTM140716780

After a month, we muslims fast from early dawn till dusk, Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a symbol of victory for us!! To be able to fast for a whole month not just from food and drinks but also from bad deeds, bad talks, bad thoughts and etc. We are trained to at least try our best for 30 days from doing bad things hoping when the Ramadhan is over, we could get used to not-doing-bad-things. I hope I've put it in the simplest way (^^)

The night before Aidilfitri, right after the dusk approaches, we are encouraged to takbiran (a form of recital that prays to Allah) starting after our Maghrib prayer until the next day's zuhur. You could consider it as a form of victory song for us.During Aidilfitri, we are encouraged to wear the fines cloth we have like 'Baju Kurung" for woman and "Baju Melayu" for man, eat the best dish to celebrate the Aidilfitri. During the first day of Aidilfitri, must be dress up with a perfect. So even for those who fast every day, they can't fast on 1st day of Aidilfitri. In the morning, families would prepare themselves for Aidilfitri prayer. It's encouraged to have breakfast together first before going to the mosque. The ladies would also join the prayer. It could be considered as one of the prayer that is joined by the women.

Hence, you would hear echoes of takbir (victory song) in the air from all the mosques. We are encouraged to takbiran as much as we could before the Aidilfitri prayer which is usually performed around 8:30-8:45 morning, people coming towards the mosque to pray during this special day.

After prayer, everyone would usually go back home as one of the tradition is to seek for forgiveness from among the family members before visiting others. As for my own family, we do it in a proper session where we would form a circle or something like that, our parents would be waiting for us to handshake them and ask for forgiveness. Aidilfitri is one of the best time for us to formally seek for forgiveness from our parents if we have ever hurt them during the past year. In my family we do it in a very sincere way where it really is a touching moment for each and every one of us. Aidilfitri is also the time where kids would be so happy to get 'duit raya' from the adults.

kids with 'duit raya'
The sharing is also done in a form of serving dishes to the visitor. All kind of cookies, cakes, traditional food which only appears during of Aidilfitri. The example traditional food menu for Aidilfitri is rendang (a dry beef curry which is cooked over a slow fire for many hours), ketupat, serunding, kuah kacang and lontong. Some of the people say your guests would bring along your sins out of your house, so we are supposed to treat our guests in the best possible way.

Food for Aidilfitri

Personally, I believe that Hari Raya Puasa, as well as the other festivals of other Malaysians, is a very beautiful and meaningful festival because it is a time of reflection, a time of forgiveness and reconciliation, a time to reunite and to strengthen not only family ties but also to forgive and forget past quarrels with friends and loved ones. Muslims greet each other with "Maaf Zahir Batin" which means "I seek forgiveness (from you) physically and spiritually". It is an act to ask for pardon which is done in order of seniority. The younger members of a family approach their elders (parents, grandparents etc) to seek forgiveness, to salam (Muslim equivalent of a handshake), then kiss the hands of the older person as a sign of respect, truly a very beautiful act indeed.

I would like to wish all my Muslim friends, blogger friends, blog readers/visitors and relatives also my lecturer "Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri". May you all have safe journeys to and fro wherever you may go and may you be blessed with meaningful moments with your loved ones.

The Strike Of Dengue Fears Malaysians !

Nur Soleha Bt Abdul Karim PTM140716780 DENGUE ! Dengue (or dengue) is one of the most common mosquito-borne diseases in Malaysia. It is so common that the Health Ministry maintains a current dengue report on its homepage, updated weekly. Dengue causes a high fever and a rash. Most people fears because dengue will be ill for about 10 days but with the right treatment, will then recover.  Only female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes spread dengue fever, which killed 134 people in Malaysia last year.  Malaysia has released 6,000 genetically modified Aedes aegypti male mosquitoes into a forest in a bid to curb rates of dengue fever.            However, the plan has sparked criticism by some Malaysian environmentalists, who fear it might have unforeseen consequences, such as the inadvertent creation of uncontrollable mutated mosquitoes. Critics also say such plans could leave a vacuum in the ecosystem that is then filled by another i...

The Interesting Country In The World

THE INTERESTING COUNTRY IN THE WORLD Qurratu' Aini Binti Zaini PTM140716803 Section 8 JAÉN (ANDALUSIA), SPAIN The most common image of Spain is of the dreadful over development of the Costa del Sol or of the coastline of some of the Balearic Islands, but Spain is so much more than that. It's perhaps the most diverse country in the world, with everything from white Mediterranean villages to sophisticated urban centers. You won't find a city with a greater sense of individuality than Barcelona , and from the Pyrenees to Andalusia, Spain could serve as the backdrop for any kind of film, book or painting. It's also the world's most seductive country, passionate about living the good life reflected on grand plazas in even the smaller cities, in well-preserved historic centers, and in the smallest of villages perched on hilltops. To top it all...
